Description
Vineyard
The Stone Town Cabernet Merlot 2024 is rooted in carefully chosen vineyard sites across the Coastal region, where ocean breezes and varied soils slow ripening and build complexity. Cabernet Sauvignon contributes depth, structure, and firm tannins, while Merlot adds lush fruit and velvet-soft texture. Together, they capture the character of the Cape’s vineyards: generous, balanced, and built for enjoyment.
Winemaking
Picked in the cool early morning to preserve freshness, the grapes were gently destalked and crushed before fermenting in stainless steel tanks for 10–12 days. Regular pump-overs extracted rich colour and flavour, while careful handling ensured supple tannins. The wine then matured for 12 months in seasoned French and American oak, bringing polish without overpowering its vibrant fruit.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, the wine draws you in with aromas of blackberries, cassis, and dark plums, layered with a touch of spice. On the palate, ripe red and black fruits unfold with smooth oak notes in the background. Cabernet Sauvignon shows its muscle with structure and intensity, while Merlot rounds every edge with a silky, mouth-filling charm. The finish is long, smooth, and elegant the kind of wine that makes you pour another glass without hesitation.
Food Pairing
Versatile and food-friendly, Stone Town Cabernet Merlot 2024 pairs effortlessly with grilled lamb chops, slow-roasted beef, or hearty pasta with tomato sauce. It also shines with mushroom risotto, charcuterie, and mature cheeses. This is the red you bring to family dinners, share with friends at a braai, or keep on hand for those evenings when only a great glass of wine will do. Its balance of richness and elegance makes it a bottle you’ll want more than one of — stock up, because six may not be enough.
